Here’s the Winter 2024 news:

 

Voodoo 5 have completed our first LP, Voodoo 5: the Exotic Sounds of Skip Heller featuring Lena Marie for Rabbi Kris Kraus’ new Black Fez label.   Should be out by April.  Live dates are being booked around that.

 

V5 is also completing a single for Alternative Tentacles, which will feature Jello Biafra making a cameo, as well as a special EP — tentatively titled Dahlia! — drawing from the music we played for the AMOK Black Dahlia Night (produced by Stuart Swezey and Carson Gilmore) and will include a reading by Jerry Stahl.  This will be put out by the great Bakersfield indie label Killer Kern Records, who also are preparing the Reckless NIght Ensemble Plays The Music of Lalo Guerrero for imminent release as a full-on vinyl LP.  KK put out the Hollywood Film Noirchestra LP, and about ten of those are left.  Available here:

 

If you know Skip, the odds of the HFN record being pressed again soon are not great, although KK is preparing it for streaming.

 

Lena Marie’s 7″ single, produced, arranged & conducted by Skip, is very nearly sold out.  Features Tom Waits/John Zorn bassist Greg Cohen, pianist Wayne Peet, and a whole lot of strings and horns.
